Christmas is one of the best holidays of the year. But just because it's Christmas, doesn't mean that danger takes a holiday too.
Here are some tips to make your holiday fun and safe.
Keep Calm & Be Prepared
If you're in a public place and a stranger talks to you in a tone you are not comfortable with, don't panic.
That person is out to get your attention and the moment you react, the more aggressive he/she could be.
Even if they start to harass you, don't confront them. Ignore and walk away at once. Find a place where there is a crowd. You can also call the police on 10111 should there be no help close by.
When Possible, Never Travel Alone.
There's a saying "safety in numbers." So when you're going home from school, or if you're on your way to a Christmas party or to hang out with friends, make sure you travel with a friend or family member. If you regularly commute by yourself, make sure to text a friend or family member where you are and what time you expect to be home.
One of the best things you can give yourself this Christmas is being able to say “NO”. Sometimes it is scary to say it cause you are worried about upsetting people, but it will help you stay safe and in control. If you have a bad feeling about something or just uncomfortable, just say no. You deserve to enjoy the holidays!
