Do you get jealous?

Here are 4 ways to deal with it!

Your thoughts (40) Do you get jealous?

Springster is all about us girls championing each other. That means being supportive, encouraging and collaborative. But let’s be honest, we don’t always feel like supporting other girls. Sometimes we get jealous and that’s ok. What matters is how you deal with the jealousy and turn it around into confidence and positive emotions.

Jealousy is feeling envious about someone else’s achievements, possessions or privileges. Jealousy makes us feel insecure inside and sometimes it makes us act in mean ways towards the person we are jealous of. These kinds of feelings are not healthy for us and so we need to learn to manage them in a smart way.

If you catch yourself feeling jealous about someone else here’s how to turn it around into confidence:

1. You are unique

There’s no need to be jealous of what other people have because we all have our own unique gifts and talents. There are seeds of greatness within us all. You just need to learn how to activate yours.

2. You are not a failure

Someone else’s win doesn’t mean you are a failure. We all have our own strengths. Just because one girl excels more than you in school doesn’t mean you are less than her. School may not be your strength but you can win at other things like sports, drama and being business-minded. Figure out your strengths, they’ll make you feel more confident.

3. Change your perspective

If you see someone excelling at something you also want to succeed in, get in touch with them to find out how they did. Rather than feeling jealous, use their success as motivation to work harder. Look to them for inspiration rather than comparing yourself in a negative way.

4. Be yourself

Spend time focusing on your life and becoming a better version of yourself. No one is perfect and so spending your time growing and improving yourself is better than wasting your time wishing your life was like someone else’s life. The more you know yourself the more confident you will feel.

Finally, remember to be patient with your life. Slow progress is still progress and one girl’s win does not mean your loss. The same way one girl’s beauty does not mean you are ugly. There is enough opportunity for everyone!
